Adopt a Cow on Dussehra

Adopt a Cow on Dussehra

Dussehra is a festival that signifies the triumph of good over evil. On this auspicious occasion, people celebrate by offering prayers and doing good deeds. One such beautiful act of kindness is adopting a cow. In India, the cow is considered a sacred animal and is often referred to as “Gau Mata,” meaning mother. Adopting a cow on Dussehra can bring positive changes to your life and bless your home with prosperity and happiness.

1. Why We Need to Adopt a Cow

There are many reasons why adopting a cow is a noble and meaningful act, especially during Dussehra:

  • Support and Care: Many cows on the streets are left abandoned, injured, or starving. These gentle creatures struggle to find food and proper shelter. By adopting a cow, you are ensuring that a needy cow receives proper care, food, and medical attention.
  • Save Lives: Adopting a cow helps protect it from dangerous situations like accidents or being taken to slaughterhouses. This act of kindness can save a cow’s life and offer it a safe and loving environment.
  • Promote Animal Welfare: Your act of adopting a cow sets an example for others. It shows that every animal deserves a chance to live with dignity and respect. When you adopt, you contribute towards a society that cares for its animals.
  • Good Deed in the Name of God: During the festival of Dussehra, people seek to perform good deeds. Adopting a cow or supporting its care is a great way to earn blessings and offer your help to a creature that is considered holy in Hinduism.

2. Having a Cow Benefits at Home – Adopt a Cow on Dussehra

Keeping a cow at home can have several benefits for your family, environment, and overall lifestyle. Here’s how adopting a cow can positively impact your home:

  • Natural Milk: A cow can provide fresh, natural, and unadulterated milk. Unlike processed milk, cow’s milk is rich in nutrients and is known to strengthen the immune system.
  • Organic Manure for Agriculture: Cow dung is an excellent natural fertilizer for gardens and farms. It is organic and improves soil health, making it ideal for growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers. This can reduce the need for chemical fertilizers and promote a healthier environment.
  • Pest Repellent: Cow urine, when used correctly, can serve as a natural pest repellent for crops. It helps maintain a healthy and pest-free garden, enhancing your home’s green space.
  • Air Purification: Believe it or not, having a cow at home is known to purify the air. The presence of cows in a home environment is said to reduce stress and create a peaceful atmosphere.
  • Spiritual and Mental Peace: Cows are known to have a calming presence. Spending time around a cow or caring for one can have therapeutic benefits, reducing anxiety and promoting mental peace.

3. Religious and Hindu Beliefs about Cow Keeping at Home

In Hinduism, the cow is deeply respected and holds a significant place in religious practices. Keeping a cow at home is believed to attract positive energy and remove negative influences. Here are some of the religious and Hindu beliefs related to cow adoption:

👉 Symbol of Prosperity: In Hindu culture, cows symbolize wealth, prosperity, and happiness. During festivals like Dussehra, performing Gau Seva (service to cows) is considered to bring blessings of goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity.

👉 Gau Daan (Cow Donation): Gau Daan is an important ritual in Hinduism. It involves donating a cow or making offerings to one. This act is said to wash away sins and help a person attain a higher place in heaven. Adopting a cow is similar to performing Gau Daan as it ensures the cow’s well-being.

👉 Presence of Holy Gods: It is believed that all the deities and gods reside within a cow. By serving and taking care of a cow, one serves the divine. This belief makes it even more meaningful to keep a cow at home or adopt one from a shelter.

👉 Brings Harmony and Removes Obstacles: Cow worship, especially during Dussehra, is believed to remove obstacles and bring harmony to the family. The simple act of feeding and nurturing a cow can help attract peace and happiness.

👉 Performing Pooja (Worship): In Hindu households, cows are often worshipped daily. Their presence is seen as bringing good fortune, and they are treated with utmost respect. During festivals, special prayers and offerings are made to cows.

Honor your ancestors’ souls and liberate them by performing Gau Seva on Pitru Paksha

Gau Seva on Pitru Paksha

Gau Seva on Pitru Paksha

Pitru Paksha is a special time in India when people remember and honor their ancestors by offering food to Gaumata. This 15-day period is very important in our traditions. This year, you can support Krishna Dham Gaushala to feed countless injured cows during this sacred time.

1. Pitru Paksha Shradh Significance

It is believed that after passing through 8.4 million life forms, a human attains human birth. A child is born into a family, but it is through the act of performing Shradh rituals during Pitru Paksha that he truly fulfills the role of a son. Offering Shradh with complete devotion during Pitru Paksha brings peace to the souls of ancestors, freeing the family from the effects of Pitra Dosh. It is also believed that during these 16 days, the ancestors return to earth, and their wishes are fulfilled when cow dung cakes are burned during the Shradh rituals, performed on the anniversary of their passing.

Pitru Paksha is a sacred 16-day period when we show reverence to our ancestors through rituals like Tarpan or Shradh Puja. The annual Shradh ceremony, known as Varshika Shradh, is performed by the surviving son(s) on the Shradh Tithi (death anniversary). According to the Puranas, performing Varshika Shradh in holy places or ‘Teertha Kshetras’ is considered extremely meritorious. The Puranas also highlight the different types of Shradh and their significance, emphasizing that performing these rituals during Pitru Paksha not only brings peace to departed souls but also paves the way for progress and prosperity for the family.

Pitru Paksha is a sacred time when we remember and honor our ancestors. It is believed that during this period, our ancestors come in the form of cows to accept offerings of food and water. This year, Pitru Paksha will be observed from September 17th to October 2nd, and you can take part in this special occasion by offering respect to your ancestors through acts of kindness.

2. Benefits of Gau Seva During Pitru Paksha (Shradh)

Cows represent the earth element and feeding them during Pitru Paksha is considered very important. Pitru Paksha, also known as Shradh, is a sacred time for Hindus. It is believed that during this period, the souls of departed ancestors return to earth in the form of Cow. By feeding cows, the families honor their ancestors and receive their blessings. Here are mention some benefits below

  • Peace for Ancestors’ Souls: Offering food and care to cows during Shradh is believed to bring peace to the souls of departed ancestors. It is said that they return to earth in the form of animals, including cows, and blessing their families for their offerings.
  • Removal of Pitra Dosh: Gau Seva during Pitru Paksha can help reduce or remove the effects of Pitra Dosh, a condition believed to cause obstacles in life due to unresolved issues with ancestors.
  • Earning Blessings: Feeding and taking care of cows in pitru paksha is seen as an act of great virtue, bringing blessings to the entire family, and ensuring prosperity, good health, and happiness.
  • Fulfilling Religious Duty: In Hinduism, serving cows is considered a sacred duty, and during Pitru Paksha, this act is even more significant as it symbolizes respect and reverence toward one’s ancestors.
  • Bringing Positive Energy: By caring for cows during Pitru Paksha, one invites positive energy into their home and life. Cows are associated with divine energy and nurturing, and their care is said to uplift the environment.

At Krishna Dham Gaushala, we are committed to feeding injured cows with healthy meals during Pitru Paksha. By serving these gentle animals, you are not only helping them but also paying tribute to your ancestors. Your support can bring hope and happiness to these cows, making this occasion even more meaningful.

Gauseva

In ancient texts, cows are seen as sacred, and offering service to them is considered a form of sacrifice. Many Indian spiritual sages, including Lord Shri Krishna, emphasized the importance of caring for cows. Cows are regarded as gentle creatures with a motherly nature, showing compassion and kindness towards humans. Our ancestors incorporated cow care, worship, and protection into their daily lives, considering it essential. It’s believed that even a small act of providing grass for indigenous cows can bring happiness, prosperity, and good fortune.

In Mahabharata, the significance of cow care is highlighted. It is said that those who wholeheartedly serve cows receive rare blessings and experience great fortune for his entire family.

Research indicates that humanity is facing sorrow, unrest, neglect, and ridicule due to being disconnected from cows. Experts recommend that Indian breed cows are crucial for addressing these issues. They emphasize that protecting cows is essential to prevent the severe crisis of global warming and safeguard all life forms.

Cows are deeply connected to our existence from birth to death. After serving one’s teacher, taking care of cows is believed to bring fame and glory. They are considered essential for our health and prosperity. Our country flourished in the past due to cow protection, leading to both spiritual and material abundance. Therefore, it is crucial for us to follow the traditions inspired by our sages and prioritize the protection and well-being of cows. By doing so, we can ensure the safety, nourishment, and health of our people.

Guaseva brings happiness

In Hinduism, the cow is honored as a mother figure and holds a significant place in religious texts. Similar to how we regard the earth as our mother, the cow is also called cow-mother. Ancient scriptures mention various stories about cows, stating that they house 33 crore goddesses. Serving cows is believed to bring happiness in your life.

Because of this, people often feed cows with bread, fruit, and other offerings by hand. If you wish to bring happiness into your life, it is suggested to serve cows, as your desires are believed to be fulfilled through this act of kindness.

In simple terms, giving food to cows is considered a very noble act in many cultures, especially in Hinduism. It is believed that feeding cows is like feeding the gods themselves. This tradition goes back a long time, with people often giving the first piece of bread they make at home to a cow.

To continue this tradition and ensure that needy cows are well-fed, an organization called Krishna Dham Gaushala has taken on the responsibility of providing food to over 2000 cows.

Donate to Feed Gaumata – This act of donating food to cows is significant because cows are highly respected in Hinduism, and often seen as motherly figures. It is said that Hindu deities reside within cows, and they are treated as visible forms of divinity. So, by feeding a cow, it is believed that you are also feeding all the gods and goddesses in the universe.

Importance of Mother CowDonate to Feed Gaumata

cows hold a special significance in many cultures. It is believed that providing water to a cow is like pleasing all the gods and goddesses. If someone walks around a cow and shows respect to her, it is like going on a holy journey, and all the divine beings reside within the cow.

Those who regularly give food to cows receive abundant blessings. Even small acts of kindness, like giving a bit of food, bring great benefits. In ancient texts like the Mahabharata, it is said that feeding a cow is as virtuous as performing a sacred ritual. According to another ancient text called Vishnudharmottar Puran, anyone who feeds a cow daily will see their troubles disappear. Offering food to a cow before eating one’s own meal brings success and prosperity.

Contribute us to feed Gaumata

In our cow shelter, our main goal is to give enough food and a safe home to cows who have been abandoned or cannot produce milk anymore. Caring for cows has always been important in our culture, even Lord Krishna was born because of his ancestors’ dedication to cow service. Caring for cows is like caring for nature itself, and our shelter is like a home for the divine. We believe that by helping these cows, we are making our lives meaningful and successful.

We really need your help as donors to keep this mission going. Without your support, these abandoned cows won’t survive, with your help, we can do even more and care for stray and injured cows.

Join us in providing straw, food, and grains for these cows and receive the blessings of the mother cow.

2000+ Gaumatas Are Living A Healthy Life Here

Donate To Gaumata

Donate To Gaumata

Cows are very special in Hinduism and are a big part of Indian culture. But lately, there are more and more cows left alone or hurt in India. These cows do not get enough food, medical help, or a safe place to stay. To help them, many cow shelters called gaushalas have been set up all over the country. These gaushalas give the cows food, a place to live, and medical care. Donations are really important for these shelters because they help keep them running and take care of the cows. In this blog, we will talk about why giving money or things to these shelters is important for living a better life.

Let’s Donate to Gaumata for a healthy life in our Gaushala

Green grass and food for cows

One big cost for a cow shelter is feeding the cows. Cows need special food to stay healthy, and it can cost a lot to buy this food. Also, cows need to eat green grass all day, which can be hard to manage if there is not enough money. Donating to cow shelters helps them buy food for the cows. When you donate to a cow shelter, you are making sure the cows get the right food they need to stay healthy and happy.

Shelter for Cows

Cows need a good place to stay safe from bad weather. In the summer, they need shade from the hot sun, and in the winter, they need a warm place. Cow shelters need enough space to keep all the cows safe, and it costs a lot to build and take care of these shelters. Donations can help cow shelters make better places for the cows to live. When you give money or things to a cow shelter, you are making sure the cows have a cozy and safe home.

Medical care for cows

Cows are just like other living beings, many times cows require a medical care. But cow shelters often do not have enough money to pay for medical care. Donations can help cow shelters buy medicine, hire vets (animal doctors), and other staff to take care of the cows. They can also use donations to give the cows regular check-ups. When you donate to a cow shelter, you are making sure the cows get the medical help they need.

Support for Krishna Dham Gaushala

Krishna Dham Gaushala stands as one of Dehradun largest Gaushala for cows. Here, we provide protection, sustenance, and refuge to ailing, starving, destitute, and stray Desi Cows and Bulls, many of whom are abandoned by their caretakers or rescued from slaughterhouses. The majority of these bovine creatures are unable to produce milk. They arrive at our sanctuary after enduring harsh conditions. Our dedicated team of hundreds of volunteers, known as Gausewaks, tirelessly tend to these animals day and night. Under the stewardship of Milli Kaur, this gaushala operates without exploiting the cows for their milk, instead, we offer it freely to saints and Gausewaks.

Our journey began modestly in 2016 with just nine cows in Dehradun. Today, we provide shelter and sustenance to over 2000 cows, bulls, and dogs across various locations. This number continues to grow steadily as more stray cows and dogs, often abandoned by their owners, find their way to our gaushala every day.

To contribute to the noble cause of preventing mother cows from experiencing hunger, homelessness, or being sent to slaughterhouses, consider donating to and supporting Krishna Dham Gaushala for their speechless efforts.
