Himachal Pradesh has been hit by another devastating climate disaster. In June 2025, cloudbursts across Kullu, Kangra, and Sainj Valley triggered massive flash floods and landslides, washing away homes, labour camps, roads, and power lines, leaving families stranded and entire villages isolated.

Entire neighborhoods across Kullu and Manali are plunged into darkness — no power, no food, no medical assistance.

Recent flash floods in Himachal Pradesh, triggered by cloudbursts and heavy rainfall, have resulted in multiple fatalities and significant damage to infrastructure, particularly in the Kullu and Kangra districts.Landslides have blocked every major access route, and remote villages like Shanshar and Chalogi are now completely cut off from the outside world. The situation is worsening by the hour. The India Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert, forecasting more heavy rainfall and potential cloudbursts in the coming days.

This is not just a natural disaster — this is a life-threatening crisis, and thousands are still stranded, waiting for help. A devastating flash flood struck Solang Nala near Manali at midnight, completely blocking the Manali-Keylong highway. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is currently engaged in road restoration work to reconnect the affected region.

Flash flood alert issued for six districts

Given the heavy rain forecast, the Meteorological Department has issued a 24-hour flash flood alert for Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur districts. An orange alert for heavy rain has also been issued for July 5 and 6, while yellow alerts remain in place for five districts today and tomorrow.

As of today, rescue operations are still ongoing, and many survivors remain trapped or in need of basic essentials. Children are sleeping under tarpaulins. Elders are falling sick. And in some areas, entire communities haven’t eaten a proper meal in days.

Your Support Can Be Their Lifeline, and your donation will help send:

  • Warm meals for flood-affected families
  • Shelter kits—tarpaulins, blankets, sleeping mats
  • Solar lamps and torches for areas with no electricity
  • Hygiene kits to prevent the spread of disease
  • Medical supplies and clean water
